One of my favorite automuseums in the world I visited a few years ago already for the last time: the #musee24heuresdumans. Epic location at the Le Mans racetrack, awesome collection. Highly recommended for a visit. Not just because of the fact they have probably my favorite Ferrari of all time on display: the Ferrari 166MM. With it’s 2.0 V12. The only car ever to win the big three: #lemans24, #millemiglia and the #targaflorio 👊💥
Nearing its 70th year the 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta by Touring has certainly aged with grace. Often heralded as ‘The Godfather’ of sport racing the MM badge stands for Mille Miglia and subsequently went on to earn victory multiple times in open-road endurance race. Limited to just a mere 25, the 166 is still regarded, and not just by Ferrari purists, as one of the most important and influential sports cars ever constructed. Thankfully, nearly all 25 examples are still accounted for today, though they rarely exchange ownership they are often frequently exhibited at events like the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. If you are one of the lucky few to rise a paddle at auction, please come prepared, as a mint condition and all-original example will set you back well over the $10million. Fully restored and repainted by #BacchelliVilla in 2016, this 1953 #Ferrari 166MM chassis #0300M was first delivered as a Vignale Berlinetta to Mr. Jacques Herzet from Brussels who raced it many times with great success in 1953 and 1954. In 1954 Mr. Herzet had the car rebodied as a Barchetta and raced his Oblin 166 Spyder for two more years. Since 1966 the car has had four American owners.
