Did my daily walk, 1 mile today. Doctors went well, 40 minutes later and a few tears. He addressed a few underlying issues and was very proactive but didn't tickle my ears so to speak. He's a good doctor. He's a Partner and reassured me he isn't going anywhere. He actually said he thinks I'm coping very well. Despite that he's asked to see me in 2 weeks time rather than 4. So many of us spend so much time worrying about the seemingly infinite ways that things could go wrong, that we can miss the beauty and the joy that can be present directly in front of us. Sometimes we find ourselves obsessing about the pain in our shoulder, the grays in our hair or the wrinkles in our skin. This kind of self talk can be damaging to the point that it can exacerbate our pain, decrease our sense of self worth and limit the extent of what we perceive as achievable? What if we obsessed about the things we love about our life? How would that affect the way we feel about ourselves or the stress we feel on a daily basis? How would that affect the shoulder pain that we have been rehabbing through? We owe it to ourselves to show ourselves the love and respect we deserve. #breathe#stabilize#move#love

Whether you are a new yogi trying to build a foundation of strength in your modified vinyasa before advancing poses or you are a regular practitioner with sore muscles or suffering joint pain... knowing how to modify your vinyasa is so helpful if it’s something you do regularly in class or at home.
In class teachers may just say, “and vinyasa” without really taking the time to break it down for those who need to modify.
So I hope this helps you to find ways to modify yours so when you need to do so in class, you can without scrambling around trying to keep up with the class as you figure out what you’re supposed to be doing.
Remember modifying doesn’t mean you don’t get the same benefit as everyone else, because you do! You are just lightening the load on your joints and making it a tad easier on your muscles. Stay humble, enjoy the journey, and embrace where you are now! Honor your body, always.
Only had a minute to work with, so it was a little fast of an explanation.
Here is a short break down:
-Forward fold with bent knees. Keep connection with thighs and lower belly. Keep length in spine.
-Plank with knees on ground and lower into modified chaturanga. Elbows stay pressed into your side.
-Lower on to the belly before inhaling to low cobra. Shoulder blades pressing into eachother, keep shoulders rolled down back.
-Move through child’s pose, fold toes under, and up into downdog.
-Down dog with bent knees. Shoulders away from ears, space for neck to move. Lengthened spine, spread your fingers!

My test results came back looks like my thyroid is off again. They changed my medications and I’ll test in another 6 weeks. I’m sure it will change again. I hate when my levels are off I end up not losing weight, I’m tired and highly annoyed 😑Luckily I’m on my shakes, I have my tea and my total control so I didn’t get tired and I actually feel good. I got retested because I noticed my weight was at a stop and I knew my nutrition was on point.
Rather than letting #hypothyroidism stop me I did yoga this morning and then right after started my cardio. There is a longer version of this video that will be live on my Youtube channel MarizaVillarreal later today. Ahh I miss doing hot yoga! Anyone know any good studios in San Pedro/Long Beach area? I’m still working on mine but I figured I’d show you some helpful tips with props! *the strap around the ankles are a blessing for beginners- as you progress and feel comfortable holding your weight, loosen the strap and that helps you extend your legs higher. 🙌
