TIL: During WWII, the mouth of Sydney Harbour was heavily fortified with anti-aircraft guns, mines, listening posts, and secret submarine barriers. Many of the gun turrets and tunnels still exist and the Royal Australian Navy maintains a post on South Head to guard “Harbour Gap” to this day.
The Bandy Bandy Snake is definitely one of the most unique reptiles in #australia 🐍. They are characterized by their black and white bands, small eyes and bluntly-tipped tail. This species is widespread through the northern and eastern regions of Australia, from wet coastal rainforest through to the desert 🌲🌵. When threatened, they will raise their body in a loop and start shaking to warn off potential predators!
