It was 10 degrees and cloudy on Jess and John’s wedding day, but this sunroom made for the PERFECT portrait location when extended time outdoors wasn’t an option. Bright and clean... just the way I like it! If you’re drawn to images like this, consider your access to neutral spaces and natural light when choosing your venues and creating your timeline. Light has a MAJOR impact on the final result of your photographs. ✨

Angles. As photographers, it’s so easy to gravitate towards photographing the same pose in the same way with each couple. Whenever I have extra time, I’ll photograph the same pose in ten different ways in order to get my mind out of a habit. Try it! It’s a lot harder than you think 😅 But SO GOOD for the creative side of your brain. Also, there is a brain 🧠 emoji. That’s kind of nasty....

Janna and Grant got married yesterday at Tuscan Courtyard, and it was nothing short of perfect! This wedding was extra special to me, because I've known Janna since 5th grade. I remember the day we met in our homeroom classroom. I thought she was the coolest girl EVER because she had met Lizzie McGuire, my HERO. Fast forward fifteen years later, I still think Janna is that cool! Her and Grant have been together for TEN years, which is so apparent in their bond. Documenting their wedding day was such an honor, and I'm so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs. Slanina!
We were all set for the first look when this floral-adorned pupper decided Paco and Nora needed some company 🐶 How gorgeous is this spot at @farmandgardenflowers for a outdoor winter first look? Right by the stream, nestled in the woods, tucked away & quiet. | Film: @fujifilm_profilm Pro 400H Processing: @photovisionprints#schonphoto
“I love you more than words can say ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You were created by our Maker ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He made you in a special way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Despite the trials and temptations we may face ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
God has pulled us through ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By His boundless mercy and grace. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The love of our Father on that we depend ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unchanging, unmerited favor to men ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Will keep us until our days on earth end.”
The first time we visited this park, I immediately envisioned these steps as a wedding ceremony backdrop. The faded pink walls & lamp stands against the blue of the sky and water surrounding the green grass in thick ribbons...picture perfect, all that’s missing is the bride & groom with their loved ones 💭✨
This image was shot in January, and all we could think of is how it would be even more gorgeous in the spring! Love daydreaming about this kind of stuff and finding places that already exist & reimagining them for other uses, anyone else do that?
Finding some quiet time to prep for the week ahead but having a really hard time putting on my work hat when it's sunshiney and warm and perfect outside and there's life to be lived outside the boundaries of my very-rarely-only-9-to-5. So maybe I'll put it off til tomorrow and jump into the work week then! The balance of real life and work, am I right?

When you have one of those weddings where you seriously can’t pick which photos to post, that’s this beautiful destination wedding right here! I just needed an excuse to post a palm tree photo because guess what? Vegas tomorrow!!! 🌴 sometimes I’m in Winnipeg 😛
Daily work isn’t the same a daily practice. And that’s something I have been falling behind on. Making time, even 20 minuets a day for practice and drills can really clear your head, stretch your muscles and prepare you for the day of writing ahead! It’s like stretching in the morning.... which is also something I have neglected!
So here’s to 20 minuets of stretching followed by 20 minuets if drills!
