*disclaimer, many of my running buds might disagree with this post! That’s okay. We can still be friends ✌️
Lots of people have been asking “so when’s your next #marathon??”
A: I’m taking a break from distance running. Many people believe that marathon runners are examples of peak physical health. While many are, I was not. Through the course of the 3 months of training, I gained 10 pounds, averaged 6.75 hours of sleep per night, fueled my chronic fatigue with caffeine and junk food, and sacrificed many things I love (quality time with my hubs, yoga, long walks...) in order to get my zillions if miles in. So why did I do it? Because it was 1,000% worth it at the time! I loved the feeling of finishing #twentysixpointfreakingtwo. However, now I’m looking for balance. I was willing to be “off” for a few months in order to finish. But now that I have, I’m focusing on rediscovering my equilibrium. I still love running and I will definitely do another half as soon as I can. But as for marathons🤷🏼♀️there’s a good chance that was my one and only. And that is perfectly fine with me!
