When I look out at my Instagram feed I see a variety of amazing explorers & photographers that continue to push the boundaries on this social platform. From talking about diversity issues in the outdoor industry to self care in a world where your highlight reel is everything. But what I also see are rebels who didn’t take no for an answer when the idea of becoming a full time fill-in-the-blank type of photographer etc was an option.
When I look through my feed I see nurses, managers, and real estate agents who used every off hour and lunch break to create imagery that they were passionate about. They didn’t stop. They let their passions drive them forward. But they too started off like you and me. Without all the fancy gear. With a tiny travel budget. Using any vacation time they could get. But they made it work. They put in the hours. They downsized their life. They got rid of their debts. And they learned and continue to learn about the craft. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So when you look at your feed of beautiful photos, remember that everyone started somewhere.

"Take a deep breath. It’s Friday, we made it. The misty air reminds me of mornings in the North West. Missing the mountains. All the green, and the miles in between ⛰"⠀

well... third time is apparently not the charm 🤷🏼♀️ tomorrow will be round 5 of the go home to fern dog saga and man oh man is life throwing me some curveballs this month. sometimes you question whether these months are sending a message or testing your strength. after today’s round 4 of airport failures & a late night health escapade i’m going to go with both, all & please send the message already cause clearly it’s not registering yet!!! 😂 here’s to might like mountains 🌄🌄 Counting my lucky beans to have friends & family helping me keep as many of my ducks in a row as is possible 🐥🤓
been home a week, so it’s about time to book a ticket out of here again I think

At our Intro to Outdoor clinic we teach it all - the names of all the equipment, how to use it, and how to move on rock. One of the most important skills we teach is the safety check, performed above by two climbers last fall. 📷:@loveyerland

Note to self: always bring magic carpets when you make a trip into the mountains.
so thankful for having a sister like you @chloegomarko.. from jamming out in the car to snoop dog, calling AAA every other month because one of our cars battery dies, somehow always ending up in situations we have no idea how we got into, knowing where every bathroom is in all of Orange County because we always have to pee, late night drives up the coast, to watching planes land on the freeway.. our lives are so extra but wouldn’t have it any other way👍🏼
Ran into these cheeky little fellas on our way to the Milford Sound. Kea, which can only be found on the South Island of New Zealand, are incredibly clever; scientists predict these birds may even be as smart as a four year old child!!
"My daughter-in-law has been into pottery lately and she was delighted to receive a pair of these mugs. They have a hand-crafted, unique look and fit nicely with her rustic decor."⠀
We love reading your reviews on wyldergoods.com 👏🏻😍 and we also love the little pop of gold on our new mugs from @cocochispa. These babies are handcrafted by Coco in her Santa Cruz studio, and she just sent us some fun new styles!

🎥 New video just went up on my YouTube channel (link in bio). Short edit from a day hike up Gertrude Saddle - sickest day hike if you’re visiting Milford Sound. Check it out!

Also, if you’ve just started seeing my photos and have no idea what I do: welcome, and come follow along on Instagram! I travel full-time, work occasionally, mostly just dirtbag, and share my messy, wild and fairly unfiltered life on YouTube. I create (almost) weekly videos, which make absolutely no money, and post photography to Instagram. I have no clue how to professionally do either of those things, but I’m just making it up with an iPhone as I go along. Luckily I love chasing adventures that never go to plan and eating $0.60 ramen, because it’s likely I’ll be totally unsuccessful at this for an extremely long time...
But it’s all about the journey, right??
So anyways, go SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel (it’s free, you know), chuck us a FOLLOW on Instagram, and hit me up if I’m ever adventuring in your corner of the world!
ps. I’m two away from 200 subscribers, and I just waged an incredibly optimistic bet with @wildkiwiadventurer about who could make it to 10k first...
Forget the 10k for now though, and let’s just aim for a conservative 200 subscribers, hey? 🤪

"There's something about being in nature that just does it for me.
Calms my spirits, eases my mind, and I feel peace.
Hiking one of the coolest trails I think I have ever been on, Joffre's Lakes hike ... Words really cannot describe 🙏🏼
(Pause for a second on the beauty, and let me just say it was one hell of a fucking hike to get there! Seriously, I mean my ass was burning! lol)
Even with 30+ minutes uphill, it was well worth the view." Anything worth experiencing always is, isn’t it? ✌🏼

When you’re on such a high and excited about what’s going on you want to share with the ones you love/world and their just on completely different wave lengths and you get reactions like “But, how is that going to make you money, you’re going to fail, you’re wasting your time, who do you think you are…” well the response I give is well I think I’m BAD ASS! ••••••••••••••••••••••
A lot of people are uncomfortable when you are striving for more & your confidence will make people feel uncomfortable. That is okay, because you are a BAD ASS and are creating your own reality!
Join my group Link in bio where you can express 100% yourself, share your wildest dreams without resistance, and everyone cheers you on no matter if you’ve making your first $1 in business, want to know more about how to life this lifestyle or want to make your first $100k!

Head on over to target and buy some of their ORGANIC Easter candy before we buy it all!🌸🐰
We had a few hours of daylight left so we decided to full send up this mountain. It was tiring and steep, but we ran up the snowy trail just in time to watch the sun set.
A lengthy, but worthwhile read. Have a great day! Here's a repost of our friend Kelly (@awakened.adventures) ⬇:
"Light ⚪️ vs Dark ⚫️: It's ok if you're struggling right now. It's ok if you cannot seem to find the right path. This lifetime is not about ignoring the darkness that lurks beneath the surface in order to only embrace the light. That darkness is there to serve a purpose; lessons to be learned in order to evolve. We are all carrying trauma and pain from our past, even from past lifetimes and from our ancestors, too. We are being given the opportunity to release that pain though, in THIS lifetime. Fear and self-doubt are no longer serving us. Now is the time to open those old drawers that you have locked away. How can we move forward if those drawers are weighing us down? They are filled with seemingly innocuous statements like "there's always tomorrow," or "I don't have time," to more damaging beliefs such as "I'm not good enough," or "I don't truly deserve to be happy." They won't go away if we numb them with drugs, alcohol, other people, or even excuses. They will get heavier. So it's ok to say, "Enough is enough. I don't want to carry this with me any longer." It's ok to bring these outdated beliefs and any repressed trauma out into the open. It's the only way to release them for good. There may be tears, rage, anxiety, sadness, humiliation... Feel it. Release it. And let it go. And then be FREE. How amazing would it be if you were able to continue life from here on out without those self-limiting beliefs, without all the BS. You are so much better than that. You are so much more. You ARE strong enough. You deserve to be happy and to feel fulfilled. You are a bright, beautiful being and it's time to start living in your true essence. 💙🌌💙" - via @awakened.adventures // #PeopleWhoHike
I don’t know a whole lot about where I’m going or what the actual heck I’m doing out here in the middle of the Pacific on an island or what my “plan” is and how I’m going to pay for retirement and blah blah blah. All I know is that I want to say I LIVED and that I grew and that I shook things up when I got a bit too comfortable. I know that I want to do more things like this ↑ that make me ache with excitement, that inspire my mind, that make me feel so immensely, insanely, deeply ALIVE. I don’t know the answers or where this journey will take me or why some days I’m so moved by it or others so confused by it, but boy, the ride sure is fun ✨ #wordz#captionsaboutnothing
