I'm working on creating better habits.. like remembering what the hell this thing is for ☝🏼😂 Kidding. 🙄 But seriously, I am terrible about rolling and stretching so this mornings workout included a 2 min plank, 7 mile run @ 8:28 pace and 10 min of rolling. How long do you guys roll out after workouts? Fill a sista in on how you keep it consistent! 😂
Meeting up with a friend today to celebrate her recent weight loss and wearing my new Zoey @diffeyewear shades!!! 🕶 How amazing is that? It’s also cool that #diff gives back by donating a pair of reading glasses for every pair sold! You know what else is amazing? 🤗 The human body!!! It gives us the strength to get through miles (however fast or many is irrelevant), it gives us the strength to lift things (weights and small human beings), and it is designed uniquely for men and women so that we can each do different things (hello, women, we can birth children 💪🏻)!!! Even though yours may not be perfect, it is AMAZING and UNIQUE and no one’s is quite like it! So on this #thankfulthursday I’d like you to celebrate YOU and another person who you doesn’t give themselves enough credit. ❤️ Tag someone below (male or female) who you think needs to read this post and needs a little celebrating!!! 🎉

First run for 2018. First run in 2 months. It was hard. There was a lot more walking than I’ve had to do in a long time. Initially I was upset with myself. Disappointed. I’m not a brand new runner. I did a half marathon 3 months ago! I am not a 16 minute per mile runner!
But instead of thinking like that, I’m going to wipe the slate clean and start over. Now I’m determined. I’m going to start over with my current ability and come up with some running goals to work towards and renew my love for running. 💕
#TBT to the Madison Half Marathon 2014. When I am training for my next race, I often look at old race photos for inspiration. It’s three months until Boston, and we have three months to get stronger and more prepared to take a right on Hereford and a left on Boylston.
There are so many rewards from running, and this week’s #thankfulthursday is how running rewards the strength and grit in all of us. Running is an ugly sport, in truth. We grimace. We sweat. We spit on ourselves. (I swear I aim for the ground and more often than not the spit lands on my shoulder.) 🤷♀️ We cuss like sailors. We expand our chests and throw our arms up at the finish, no matter our finishing place. Our muscles and skin move and are captured by film in very real ways. But, there is no pretty needed in running. There is no size needed to run. Running beckons the strong and gritty parts of ourselves. In a world concerned with beauty and size, runners are cheered for their fierce faces and strong bodies. And, yet, what is interesting is how beautiful every runner looks after the finish. It’s the beauty that glows from accomplishment, from owning space, and from taking risks. Beauty should not be measured in sizes, especially when women’s sizes start at zero. How a 24-25 waist became a zero is beyond me. Zero means we do not exist. Running applauds our effort and our tenacity, not our hiding and shrinking and primping. I am grateful for running for teaching us that we can be both fiercely focused and competitive, and that we are always beautiful when we allow our souls to truly shine. Keep running. Shine on. Shine on.
Food glorious food... Another good food day today! 🍳🥦🍲🌰🍫
• Egg stacks for breakfast today - portabello mushroom, avocado, egg and turkey rasher = da bomb 💣
• Lunch was chicken sausages and broccoli mash (again - but it is seriously tasty!)
• A yummy chicken and egg salad with a drizzle of olive oil. 🍗 🥚.
• Snacks were mixed nuts and dark chocolate 👍🏼.
Can’t believe we’re nearly half way through the four weeks! I’ve kept completely to plan food wise, and done every workout so far. It’s been a change and of course hard work (if it was easy everyone would do it, right?) but I have honestly enjoyed it - so far!
Carb day tomorrow, and Fri-yay! Whoop-whoop!
Didn’t feel like doing that workout AT ALL!!! 😝 BUT oh so happy that I did it anyway. I learned long ago: 1. not to rely on my “feelings” when it comes to working out and 2. I ALWAYS feel better when I’m done!!! 🤩 You need help with your health, I’m here for you!!! Message me so we can chat 📩🙌🏼
Took the pooch out for some easy miles. I wanted to get out with Cody as he's still very overweight but he's out of shape so I took it nice and slow and didn't time my run. Felt great despite the cold and I'm looking forward to the weather warming up a little but for my weekend runs! #winterrunning#dogrunning#doglife#slowrun
Di ritorno dal mio allenamento serale: oggi 1 ora di lento 🏃🏻♀️ a chi di voi piace correre nel buio? Io sto aspettando che cambi l’ora ☀️
Back home from my evening training 🏃🏻♀️ do you like running in the dark? I don’t really 😅 #nikerunning#nike#nikewomen
#snowday today!! This is rare for Houston but the second time this season! When it snows in Houston offices and schools close! Ha ha! It’s been a cozy day at home with my mini and I just finished my workout on the treadmill 🙌 Now it’s time for #candyland and hot chocolate! Speaking of hot chocolate...12 days until the @hotchocolate15k
#runstreakday16 called for 8x400m repeats @ 5k pace with 200m slow jog recoveries. Apart from my pace goal for 5k (~7:10), I also had a mini goal of finishing the 5 miles total in 43 minutes or less. Couldn’t have been more spot on! 😂
Yesterday I had a late night workout, including intervals (10×1 minute) 🏃🏻 This morning I started my day with a nice and slow yoga practice (hence the photo, I was as zen as this sunset 😂) 🙏 I feel like that's the best of two worlds; the sweat and the high-intensity from running and the stillness and the "humble approach" (to the practice and to life in general) from yoga. I really enjoy standing on three legs now with running, lifting and yoga - it feels like they conplete each other 😊

Tempo run done. Happy hump day!
Gorgeous snowy morning in Boston (though this shot is from earlier in the year) ❄️ And as per usual, my Wednesday morning started with a 5 mile run 🏃🏻♀️💨 and a 2,000 yard swim 🏊🏼♀️ I used to get sooooo stressed out about swimming: I’d kick like crazy lest I drown otherwise 🙈 These days swimming is my getaway: I feel safe and warm in the water 💖 There’s a sense of serenity, as I glide, suspended and weightless 💕🌊 @stephen.born and I are going to California in a month, and I’m so hoping that the ocean may just be warm enough to swim in 🤞🏻🌟 #riseandgrind#morningrun#snowday
