Cold rainy winter nights and marquee lights. The Strand, in Seymour, CT, has been operating since 1941 out a building that now also houses a guitar shop and a Knights of Columbus office. In these days of multiplexes with reclining seats and streaming services fighting it out for every last customer, The Strand keeps its status as a local favorite by sticking to a business strategy that has been tried and tested by countless other small cinemas: playing cult classics.

Fancy a night-time stroll through of the best preserved medieval streets in the world? Aye or nay? Love the atmosphere in this shot of wonderful York by @hbojho - Characterised by overhanging timber-framed buildings that hug the roadside, the street is a proper time machine to days gone by.
Talking of that: I've just got back from Lichfield Cathedral, which houses over 1,300 years of history in the only medieval three-spired Cathedral in the UK.. click the Union Jack on this profile to view the stories and live tour... A small little trip on the way back home! Love that about Britain - historic buildings are peppered throughout the landscape as you travel. Plus, you know, lovely tea rooms. And yes, I did have a scone. Ha!
York was founded by the Romans as Eboracum in 71 AD and the Emperors Hadrian, Septimius Severus and Constantius I all held court in York during their various campaigns. Along with the beautiful York Minster which was built circa 1338, a visit to The Shambles, right here, is a must. The street is lined with shops, boutiques and tea rooms in buildings many of which are over 500 years old... lovely shot by @hbojho 🇬🇧 Want your Photos of Britain to be featured?
