Ain’t got time for that Dave!
Even with the religious association here, I think this works on so many levels. Also another reason to add to the list of why the #debtfreecommunity is so amazing!
I’m also thinking about how this relates to social media. Do you guys think that social media use encourages gossip? 🦌
I have saved sooo much more money over the past year just buy buying a lot less stuff (odd how that works!!). In 2016 I couldn’t tell you what I bought, but for last year I carefully considered almost every purchase and I could tell you how much I spent and on what items. When you focus less on things you have way more space in your life for everything else!

So in the beginning of December, hubs got awesome news that a new (huge) customer was going to sign with him for $60k over 6 mos 🤯. We literally popped champagne (I bought it from @aldiusa so back off)🍾. Fast forward almost 2 months later and there’s still no signed contract and no check (my momma says we counted our chicks before they hatched 🐣).
Because old habits die hard, we spent every dollar before we even saw it (in our imagination, not literally thank God). One thing we wanted to do with the money was of course pay off some debt. The other thing we wanted to do was to invest in my business.
It was a tough decision because on one hand, of course we should put every dollar towards debt then move onto other goals. On the other hand, we have SO much debt that’s it’s hard to not use money for other things during this LENGTHY AF process.
By investing in my company I could move to a better office and make more money...a big step towards the larger goal of increasing income to pay off our Goliath debt. Also, hubs could be in the office with me and we could drop one of our fleases and commute to work together. I still dunno what the right decision is. Whatcha think? 💭
Anyways, life is hard, we’re still living off one income, and we still have debt 😂 😭.
I just posted this and a few other great articles in the Financial Independence 🔥 section of my Highlights. This is the next step for me after becoming debt free! I plan to save more of my income and retire a few years early. Imagine what you could do if you didn’t have to spend so much time at a job that maybe didn’t allow you to be as creative or productive as you could be! Check out fourpillarfreedom.com for some great information on financial independence and early retirement (which is where I found this chart).
8,060.96 in interest!!! 😠😠😠😡😡😡😭😭😭👎👎👎 I've been paying on these God forsaken student loans for 5 years. I had no choice for the first 3 years but to use the income based repayment plan- I just could not afford $550 payments on my measly salary (and before our little one was born last spring, we were just dumb with money). Now I need to recertify and hoping to keep my monthly payment at or near where it currently is just long enough to get the three smaller debts ahead of this monster paid off.
Found this from three months ago.. where i said i was going to start but didn’t 🤦🏽♀️ and now it went up b.c of interests. I’m like 97% done with figuring out the exact numbers .. having this to work off with helped! 😬 #debtstodiamonds

Tagged by several of you (below) to share 5 random facts, so here goes...
1️⃣ This is us! No, our real names aren’t Sandy and Danny. Would be cute, though, right? #grease
2️⃣ We don’t have kids yet, but hope that will change soon.
3️⃣ Sandy despises cucumbers. She calls them cukes because it rhymes with pukes.
4️⃣ Danny loves going fast (motorcycles, cars, & snowboards), but is deathly afraid of open water and only moderately tolerates heights.
5️⃣ Monday marks 6 years since our very first date!
About finally revealing our faces: we're tired of having to be secretive and not post things just because our faces are shown. We've been concerned about someone recognizing us and learning intimate details about our finances — but if someone judges us for trying to get our lives together, then we don't need them anyway.

For each household, in student loans could average over $40k(some of us not using our degree yet)😱auto loans over $20k (cars depreciate after you drive them off the lot)🤔🤔and misc $100k(over priced hospital bills & cable companies with repeating channels & over priced cell phone bills & etc) 🧐in debt... as of Sept 2017.
These are the things we desire in life, yet lack of income due to low minimum wage cycle us to incur debt! Or are we living above our means? ... to impress another person who can’t possibly help us stay afloat‼️ What more DO THEY want from us?

Ask me how I was doing financially before @daveramsey and I was literally drowning, with no life vest 😅 but today its so manageable you have no idea how amazing it feels not being afraid to check your bank account. I sleep better at night, I dont wake up scared or doing all this math in my head to figure out how am I going to make ends meet. Although this lifestyle is not easy or fun, I can say that it’s the best thing to have happened to me. I thank God everyday that I adopted this lifestyle and found this community. I am urging everyone to start because if you do these next couple of months are going to be life changing. I promise you that. If you’re waiting for a sign consider me telling you that yes this is what you should be doing right now, you won’t regret it. In just a year I managed to pay down $20k in debt by simply changing my lifestyle, I didn’t get a raise or anything, I simply cut back and followed a written plan. 🙏🏼

If you love the idea of cash envelopes or clips but can’t get behind carrying cash with you or dealing with coins.. this is for you! I still use both debit and credit cards. I know studies show that I’ll spend 12-18% more with them than I would with cash.. so I try to combat that by engineering my environment to make it harder to overspend. The reason cards cause us to spend more is because of friction. We feel physical pain when we hand over cash. We don’t have the same connection to a card.. with card companies moving to tap systems, all we have to do is waive our card and it’s done! Retailers have one click buttons to ship items and they store your information for a reason - the easier it is to spend, the more likely you are to purchase something and the more you’re likely to spend. Swipe for my tips to overcome this. You need to set up your environment to make yourself pause every step on the way to spending. Any other tips? Add them below! Let’s get an exchange of ideas flowing here! Anyone keep their cards in a block of ice like in the movies? 😂

FINALLY sold this today!!! Our kids got a Wii u for Christmas last year so our old one was sitting in the closet collecting dust. I'd gotten several hits on it and lots of offers but none followed through. Glad to have it gone and some extra cash!!

Hey friends! 👋🏻 I want to share a few things about me and my family so you can see the lives behind all the stuff I post on @easy_budget .
1. My name is Merilee, hi!
2. I’m married to Derek and we have 2 kids (3 year old boy and a 2 year old girl)
3. I have the worst knees and have had 2 surgeries in the last 2 years and still struggle with daily pain and soreness.
4. I love to exercise and am trying to get into yoga this year to get more flexible.
5. I come from a family of 8 kids 😱💕
6. My parents did teach me about money growing up, mainly frugal habits and living within means. They didn’t teach me about investing or wealth building or avoiding student loans, but they gave me a good foundation.
7. I like to read, mainly self improvement books of any kind (money, marriage, parenting, behavior)
8. My favorite show is Law & Order SVU. 😬
9. I’m a stay-at-home mom, but I’ve always had some small part time job from home to keep busy. I’ve wanted to be a mom my whole life. #goals#dreams
10. One of my biggest challenges is being vulnerable with friends and family and opening up about insecurities and struggles. I start to feel so self-conscious and insecure #workinprogress ———————————————
Obviously I LOVE personal finance too!!!! 😆 So that’s a little about me! What do we have in common??
Episode 3 of Finance Fridays has been brought to you by the letter “D”
“D” for Delaney... jk... NO
“D” for Deductible!! A lot of us over pay our car, home, and health insurance deductibles. We are doing it unknowingly but all the same most of us do it! If you have a low deductible and are willing to pay more money out of pocket before filing a claim because you do not want your month rates to go up you are OVERPAYING!! So many of us do it on a month or yearly basis. We don’t even consider the fact that we could save thousands of dollars over the course of a year or a few just by reviewing our different insurance policies whether it be auto home or health and altering the deductible based off our ACTUAL risk tolerance. Everyone is always concerned about the Rate of return on investment. I would love to see how taking a look and making small alterations from a $500 deductible to a $1000 deductible could change your financial picture over the course of a few months or a few years. The numbers speak for themselves. As always I am all about keeping the money on your balance sheet oppose to somebody else’s. Like I always say please like, comment, ask questions, or even disagree and let’s have a conversation over the matter. I don’t do this for my benefit I do it for yours. As always I hope this gave a new refreshing view to a common issue and I will see you next week! Have a great weekend! 😎
Yesterday was our 2.5 year anniversary. And yes, I am a huge fan of half year celebrations (being a summer birthday kid, you totally need to be)! 2.5 years ago, we had no idea what our future would hold. Getting married at 20 and 23 with $87,000 of student loan debt. It felt difficult to imagine our future with all that debt in the way.
But here we are today, debt-free sooner than we initially thought, and excited for what our future will bring as we get to dream about all the things we want to do in life together.
Thankful to have a supportive husband who is my teammate in our daily lives, careers, and our debt-free journey. 👱🏼♂️❤️👰🏽 P.S. I know you can’t see my face in this picture, but my sweet husband’s face is just the cutest. 😍
Lol no shame!! Deposit all that cash and apply it to my loans! thank you. This was very much me when I used to go overdraft in my early 20s. Like let me put a few dollar in to cover this coffee I shouldn’t have bought! HAPPY FRIDAY! 🙌🏼
